2026.05 DAZED ENHYPEN INTERVIEW
Today, together with Prada, we welcomed summer one step ahead of others.
Jay: Usually, we deliberately shoot out of season. When it’s hot, we go with a cold concept; when it’s cold, we go with a warm concept. That way, the mood matches the temperature at the time of release. This is the first shoot this year that captures the feeling of summer, so it’s a good start. It really felt like the very first scene of the season.
Jungwon: The air in Seoul has been quite polluted lately, but Pyeongchang-dong, where we filmed today, is close to Bukhansan, so the air felt exceptionally clean. Time really flies. It’s already your sixth year. How have things been lately?
Jake: After receiving the grand prize last year, I actually found myself thinking even more deeply. I felt a great sense of achievement for reaching that goal, but at the same time, it made me wonder, “What’s next?” I’ve had many conversations with the members about our future direction, and it became clear that we want to perform on bigger stages and meet more people.
Ni-ki: Lately, I’ve been constantly thinking about what it means to be “myself.” In the past, I focused on doing well with what was given to me, but now I want to create my own direction—whether it’s in music, performance, or fashion.
Sunghoon: Before, I was afraid of trying new things or showing unexpected sides of myself. But at some point, I started thinking, “It’s my life anyway, so I should decide.” As I became less conscious of others’ opinions, I’ve actually become more honest.
They say this place has great energy. I hope you receive lots of good energy in 2026. It’s also been a while since you last worked with Dazed, since 2021.
Jungwon: I think I was about seventeen or eighteen when I shot my first pictorial. Fans often post photos from back then, and when I look at them sometimes, I see myself trying to look serious for no reason, which actually makes it kind of cute. (laughs) Now I’ve definitely become much more natural.
Jake: We’ve worked together several times since our debut, and each time we’ve tried something new. Through that process, the team’s identity has become clearer as well. I’m looking forward to the results of this shoot too—especially since it’s with Prada, which makes it even more meaningful.
Ni-ki: Back then, we had just debuted, so everything felt unfamiliar and nerve-wracking. But after that shoot, my interest in fashion definitely grew, and I still go back and look at my first pictorial sometimes. I even still have that magazine in my room.
Sunoo: It was nice to be working with Dazed again after such a long time. The atmosphere on set was great too. Today I wore Prada shorts, which isn’t a style I usually go for, so it felt even more refreshing. (laughs)
Jay: In the past, I think I tried too hard to look cool. The more I tried to calculate my expressions, the more awkward it became. As I’ve gained experience, things now flow much more naturally.
Sunghoon: I still remember clearly my first pictorial, which I shot right after debuting at nineteen. We’ve continued working together since then, and when I look at the results, you can really see how we’ve grown. It feels like a record that connects time.
On the other hand, is there anything that never changes, even as time passes?
Sunghoon: It’s our attitude toward the team. Since we’re a group of six moving together, the process of constantly meeting, talking, and aligning our direction never changes.Sunoo: I’ve tried to change my personality before, but in the end, I realized it’s better to protect my strengths. My bright energy, in particular, used to be something I worried about, but now it’s actually become my strength.
Jake: In the end, it’s all about communication. When you’ve been together for a long time, there are moments when you talk less, but that’s exactly when we try to intentionally make time to talk. I think missing those moments is more dangerous.
Jungwon: The mindset of “if I try, I can do it” has stayed the same since debut. Working in this field has only made it stronger. In the end, if you believe, you somehow manage to make it happen.
Jay: It’s a desire that’s almost like greed. Even when I achieve something, I’m not satisfied. I keep looking toward what’s next. When I reflect on myself, I feel like someone with no end—and I think that’s what keeps pushing me forward.
Ni-ki: These days, there’s a lot of discussion within the team to gather opinions. From concepts to direction, we create everything together through conversation. Through that process, I can feel the team becoming stronger.
It makes me think about why ENHYPEN continues to be loved. If I may guess, could it be that the way you gave your all since I- LAND captured people’s hearts?
Jay: Thank you. (laughs) Looking at it objectively, I think luck also played a big part. Everyone is running toward the same goal, right? We endured all the way through within that. The timing worked out, opportunities came, and I think we didn’t miss them. Right—luck is also a kind of skill.
Sunghoon: I think it’s impossible to pinpoint the exact reason. Sometimes, like with “Moonstruck” or “No Way Back (Feat. So!YoON!),” the response to B sides ends up being better than expected. Seeing that, I realized there’s no point in trying to calculate everything. Now, I think all we can do is just give our best.
Jungwon: Among the teams that debuted around a similar time, there aren’t many that have looked in the same direction for this long. I think that time has been conveyed to the fans as well. And… well, we’re pretty good-looking too. (laughs)
It’s already been three years with Prada. Coachella was held not long ago, and I found myself revisiting ENHYPEN’s 2025 Coachella performance. The moment you appeared in Prada’s specially made custom outfits really stood out. For this shoot, which items did you find the most beautiful?
Ni ki: Every time I wear Prada, I feel like I become a different person. The colors and mood are so distinct, and the process of interpreting them itself is fun. I’ve always been interested in fashion, but lately I’ve also become interested in archives, so I even looked up Prada’s 1998 collection.
Sunghoon: I’ve always liked classic styles—dark tones and clean silhouettes. But through this shoot, my thoughts on shorts changed. They were much more comfortable and nice than I expected. I think I’ll wear them more often this summer.
Jake: I just wear what I’m drawn to. Colors I wouldn’t have tried before now come naturally to me. Today, the yellow striped look stood out in my memory. I used to wear a lot of black clothes.
Jungwon: The shirt from the second look. I like dandy and neat styles, so it really suited my taste. It’s not excessive, just clean and refined—exactly my style.
Sunoo: All the outfits were beautiful, so it’s hard to choose, but the look from my individual shoot suited me the best. The shorts that were the key point today were especially impressive. From the colors to the silhouette and balance, it felt very well- completed.
Jay: Lately, I’ve been paying attention to the Monte Carlo sneakers. I like leather materials, and the shoes I wore today had exactly that texture, so they really caught my eye. Personally, it’s an item I really want.
Style itself is also a way of describing a person. Even when trying various styles, the feeling of “being ENHYPEN” is always clear.
Jay: We don’t limit ourselves. However, we try to maintain a shared emotional line or the core of our narrative. It’s not easy to have both a strong identity and diversity at the same time, but we want to be a team that can embrace both. I think constantly 고민 ing that balance is what has made ENHYPEN what it is today.
Jake: The universe we created in the beginning still has power. The concept of vampires has now expanded into something more realistic. I hope that kind of flow continues, as we keep trying new things and growing. Growth always requires new challenges.
Sunoo: We keep things open in terms of genre. That’s why I think we’ve built an image of being able to do any kind of music. Moving forward, we want to keep growing through new attempts—because growth always comes with new challenges.Jungwon: Like Sunoo said, not every song can succeed. Some turned out more disappointing than expected, while others did better than we imagined. Rather than chasing “successful music,” we focus on trying a variety of things. That’s why I’m looking forward to the next album. We want to show an album of such great quality that it surprises people—I want to give the same kind of shock I felt when I first heard “Bite Me.”
Are there still any genres you’d like to try? (laughs)
Jay: Jazz. I think it might suit us surprisingly well. I’d like to try it at least once as a B-side. Jazz is actually a very flexible genre, so I think it can definitely be interpreted in a trendy way.
Jungwon: Calm, mellow songs. I often listen to emotional music when I go for walks, so I’d like to present that kind of sound with ENHYPEN’s voices. There are still so many things I want to try.
Jake: Boom bap. (laughs) It’s a completely different vibe, so I think it would be even more fun.
Sunoo: For me, everything. (laughs) Acoustic is good, jazz is good—I just want to keep changing in the end.
If you had to recommend just one song to the readers today?
Sunghoon: The band version of “Moonstruck” that we performed at Coachella. I had been waiting a long time for the moment to sing that song live on stage. The original is great too, but with the band arrangement, it felt like the song really came alive.
Jay: “Polaroid Love.” It was the first song that made me truly realize, “Our music can reach people this far.” The fact that it rose again on the charts made it even more impressive. After that, all I could think about was that we needed to do even better.
Jake: “Sleep Tight.” It’s a song I’m personally very attached to, especially because it was my first time trying songwriting. Maybe that’s why it comes to mind more often.
Niki: Among the title tracks, “Knife.” It’s a song where the energy you feel on stage is especially strong, so the thrill of performing it is huge. And I also hope you’ll give Jake hyung’s self-composed song a listen. (laughs)
Earlier, the moment when everyone was on the bed together shouting “Let’s go!” was really fun. You could instantly feel the team’s atmosphere. Since you’ve spent so much time together, are there any abilities where you think, “I’m a bit jealous of that”?
Sunoo: I was about to say Ni-ki’s height…but that’s genetic. (laughs) Honestly, I’m jealous of his sense for languages—the ability to naturally connect with different cultures, like Japanese or English. I often think about living abroad at least once. Maybe Japan or the UK. Come to think of it, I guess I like island countries. (laughs)
Jungwon: Rather than envying a specific ability, I think it’s more important how each of us fits what we’re good at into the team. I’m satisfied with my current role and who I am now. Love myself.
Jay: Ni-ki’s “physical age.” His basic durability—like his joints and muscles—is definitely different. Even if we do the same workout, I feel it the next day, but Ni-ki barely shows it. Since I had a long trainee period, I can feel that my body isn’t like before anymore, so I envy that even more.
Jake: Ni ki’s Japanese. I can communicate fairly well in English, but when I go to Japan, I realize I’m not as free. If I could speak Japanese too, I think I’d be able to communicate with fans much more widely.
Niki: Jake hyung. I think when language opens up, relationships expand too. I like the U.S., and I believe communication ability really broadens connections, so I really envy that.
Sunghoon: Both. (laughs) Ni-ki’s Japanese and Jake’s English.
You see each other every day, but the longer you’re together, there must be things that are harder to say. Is there anything you’d like to say to each other, taking this opportunity?
Jungwon: When I’m with the members, I actually become more honest than I am with my family. I think it’s because we spend more time together. I’ve known JAY hyung since 2018, so it’s already been eight years. To Sunghoon hyung… I want to say, let’s work out together. (laughs) He’s been resting these days. And he’s the member I’m most grateful to. He pushes forward with his own thoughts, but when he’s wrong, he knows how to admit it coolly.
Sunghoon: Sunoo, put your phone down. You’ll get turtle neck. (laughs)Sunoo: I can feel that Jake hyung really tries to take care of me. I haven’t been good at expressing it, but I want to say thank you, sincerely. It’s a bit embarrassing… but I’ll do better going forward.
Jake: Ni-ki—respect. That one word is enough.
Niki: JAY hyung, please cut down on golf. Sometimes he even comes to the practice room wearing golf clothes. From the perspective of someone who likes fashion, that’s a bit… (laughs) Someone had to say it.
Jay: Jungwon may seem strong on the outside, but he’s actually very delicate. So I try not to say things that might burden him. I just hope he’s always healthy and happy.
ENHYPEN is known for their love for fans. If there’s a reason you keep moving forward not for fans, but for “yourself,” what would it be?
Sunghoon: In the end, it’s about goals. I have a point I want to reach, and I keep going to achieve it. Also, I think just being able to do this work itself is a great blessing. I want to love it and enjoy it even more.
Jake: I want to share the emotions you feel when you hear good music. I believe there are feelings that can be conveyed even without language. Whether I’m making a song or standing on stage, the desire to share those emotions with more people is a big driving force for me. I want to be a singer who delivers emotions.
Niki: Honestly, it’s because I want to become a cooler person. An artist that anyone can look at and think, “That’s really cool.” I don’t think I’ve fully reached that point yet.
Jay: In the end, it’s ambition. No matter what I do, it always feels lacking, and once I achieve something, I see the next thing. I’ve never once felt like “this is enough.” I think it’s just my nature, and that’s what keeps me going.
Sunoo: Looking back, everything up to now has been connected to our fans. I’m still in the process of finding answers, but I want to do my best while I can, so I won’t have regrets.
Jungwon: For me, honor and achievement are important. We’ve already accomplished a lot, but I still think we have a long way to go. The standards created within K-pop are so high, which makes it clear there’s still a long path ahead. I want to keep going. There’s still so much I want to achieve.
You must have a lot you want to say to your fans—please share just one message.
Jake: We’re coming. This time, we’ll really come meet you in person.
Jay: You can look forward to this tour. Please show lots of interest and support.
Ni-ki: I’m confident about the next album. We’ll repay your long wait with great results.
Sunoo: I love you, ENGENE.
Sunghoon: Thank you, always. Let’s stay together for a long time.
Jungwon: I miss you. Thank you. Just those two words.
ENHYPEN, one last word?
Jake: Passion
Jay: Passion
Ni-ki: Vampire
Sunoo: Freedom
Sunghoon: Narrative Jungwon: Dazed
